Arrival in Paro and Transfer to Thimphu
Upon your arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be warmly greeted by our representative, who will assist with immigration formalities and guide you throughout your journey. From Paro, embark on a scenic drive to Thimphu, Bhutan’s capital city, where you will check into your hotel and have time to refresh.
Begin your exploration of Bhutan with visits to:
- Kuensel Phodrang: Admire the towering Buddha Dordenma statue and enjoy breathtaking panoramic views of the Thimphu Valley.
- Craft Bazaar: Wander through 80 vibrant stalls offering authentic Bhutanese arts and crafts, providing the perfect opportunity to purchase local handmade products.
- Tashichhoe Dzong: Visit this grand fortress, which houses the King’s office, the secretariat, and the central monk body. Built in 1641, it remains a central symbol of Bhutanese culture and religion.

Thimphu to Paro
After breakfast, embark on your journey to Paro, visiting notable attractions along the way:

Tamchog Lhakhang & Suspension Bridge: Situated about 50 minutes from Thimphu, this temple lies across the Paro River and is accessible via an iron chain suspension bridge, built by the 13th-century Tibetan saint and architect Thangthong Gyalpo. Crossing the bridge is a thrilling experience and offers a glimpse into Bhutan’s engineering marvels. Some original chain links from the bridge are preserved in the National Museum in Paro.

Paro Airport Bird’s Eye View: Stop for a scenic view of Paro International Airport, Bhutan’s only international airport. Famous for its stunning location amidst the mountains, it is considered one of the most picturesque yet challenging airports for pilots worldwide.

National Museum: Located in the historic Ta Dzong (watchtower), the museum houses a fascinating collection of artifacts that offer insight into Bhutan’s rich cultural heritage and history.

A Day Hike to Taktsang Ghoempa (Tiger’s Nest Monastery)
Begin your day with a hike to the renowned Taktsang Monastery, or Tiger’s Nest, one of Bhutan’s most iconic landmarks.

Hike Details: The journey to the viewpoint takes approximately 2 hours, offering breathtaking views of the monastery perched dramatically on a cliffside. Pause at the Viewpoint Cafeteria for refreshments and enjoy the stunning scenery before continuing the final 1-hour ascent to the monastery.

Historical Significance: According to legend, Guru Rinpoche flew to this sacred site on the back of a tigress in the 8th century and meditated in a cave for three months. The primary monastery structure was built in 1692. Although damaged by fire in 1998, it has been meticulously restored to its original magnificence.
After exploring the monastery, begin your descent back to the base. Stop for lunch at the Viewpoint Cafeteria before completing the trek downhill to the road point.
Drive back to your hotel in Paro for a well-deserved rest.
