OVERNIGHT STAY IN KANDY

Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and depart to the next destination, Kandy

The hill capital of Sri Lanka, a designated UNESCO World Heritage Site, was the final stronghold of the Sinhalese Kings during the periods of Portuguese, Dutch, and British colonial rule. It was officially ceded to the British in 1815 through an agreement. For Buddhists in Sri Lanka and around the world, this city holds immense spiritual significance as it houses the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic (Dalada Maligawa), which enshrines the revered tooth relic of Lord Buddha.

Nearby, visitors can explore remnants of the Royal Palace (Maha Wasala), the Palle Wasala (once the queens’ quarters, now the National Museum), and the Meda Wasala, which accommodated other royal family members. The Audience Hall, along with the Natha Devala and Vishnu Devala, are situated in close proximity. By the lake lies the picturesque Bathing Pavilion (Ulpenge), while at the center of the lake is Kiri Samudraya (Milk White Ocean), an island that served as a summerhouse for the kings. Together, these landmarks narrate the rich history and culture of this sacred city.

OVER NIGHT STAY IN NUWARA ELIYA

  • Enjoy your breakfast at the hotel and depart to the next destination Nuwara Eliya.

NUWARA ELIYA

Often referred to as the “Little England” of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya is a picturesque destination set amidst stunning landscapes of mountains, valleys, waterfalls, and lush tea plantations. Known for its cool climate, the area offers weather reminiscent of an English spring day, with chilly temperatures at night.

The influence of British colonial heritage is evident throughout Nuwara Eliya, with charming country cottages and elegant Queen Anne-style mansions dotting the town. At the heart of it lies Victoria Park, a delightful spot for leisurely strolls, picnics, or birdwatching, where rare bird species can often be spotted.

Unlike other parts of Sri Lanka, Nuwara Eliya experiences seasonal changes reflected in its vibrant blooms—spring flowers from March to May and autumn hues in August and September. During these “seasons,” residents from the lowlands often retreat to Nuwara Eliya to escape the heat and humidity of the coast, making it a serene and refreshing getaway.

  • Check into the hotel.

Gregory Lake

Start your day with a visit to the picturesque Gregory Lake, nestled in the heart of Nuwara Eliya. Named after Sir William Gregory, the former British Governor of Ceylon, this serene lake is a perfect spot to unwind and immerse yourself in nature’s beauty.

Choose a cozy spot along the lakeside to relax, surrounded by the tranquil atmosphere and cool mountain air. Take in the peaceful ambiance as the gentle ripples of the water reflect the lush greenery around you. If your timing is right, you’ll witness a breathtaking sunset, with vibrant hues painting the sky and casting a magical glow over the lake’s shimmering surface—a truly unforgettable experience.
